How to update the site
How to update the site
- Add next year's seasons
Hollin House → Seasons → Add New: the name, first and last day, the days open, opening and closing times, last admission → Publish. The plan-your-visit line, the hours table and the search listing all read it. Do this before the current season ends; the checks say so 30 days ahead. - Close for a holiday
Hollin House → Closures → Add New: the reason as the title (visitors see it), the day, and the last day if it runs longer → Publish. The home page says "Closed today" with the reason on the day. - Change a price
Hollin House → Admission → the line → price (0 = free), note → Update. Home and Visit read it. - Add an exhibition
Hollin House → Exhibitions → Add New: title, opens, closes, room, one paragraph, a photograph → Publish. It moves from upcoming to current to past by itself. - Add a talk or a garden walk
Hollin House → Events → Add New: title, date, time, kind, places, places taken, one paragraph → Publish. When it is full the page offers the waiting list; when it is over it leaves. - Write the garden note
Hollin House → Garden notes → Add New: a heading for the month, today's date, a few lines → Publish. The newest note shows on the home page with its date. - Add or adopt an object
Hollin House → Collection highlights → the object → photograph, the adopt cost and what it pays for; tick "Adopted this year" when someone adopts it → Update. Alternative Text for the photograph is set in the Media Library. - Change a membership tier
Hollin House → Membership tiers → the tier → price, who it covers, one benefit per line (the same wording on every tier that has it) → Update. The comparison table rebuilds itself. - Report a number
Hollin House → Numbers → Add New: the number as shown, and the sentence that says how it was counted. No method, no number. - Publish a new Form 990
Media → Add New and upload the PDF. Then Hollin House → Financial documents → Add New, choose the file, the fiscal year and the kind, and Publish. The three newest 990s are listed by themselves. - Send year-end giving statements
Hollin House → Year-end statements → look at donors marked Fix or Check, add checks and stock under "Gifts entered by hand", preview a statement, then Send. In this demonstration nothing is sent.
